I had a long, very long, weekend. I work twelve hours every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday night the girl that was to replace me at seven called off, they switched the line-up around somewhat. The girl that was supposed to replace the girl that was to replace me, called off. This wasn't realized until 7:05 when I was going 'okay, where's my replacement? I'd like to go home.' They wanted me to stay...they even offered me a shower at the facility. (I work in a nursing home) I left around 8 p.m. and was completely dead the next day (I had to be back in to work at 6:30 a.m.). So Saturday I'm practically in a daze, and we were short, but thankfully one of the girls they put on resorative came over and helped me. Sunday I was a bit more awake, but on my own. I got two comments from two different staff. One of the ladies in activities told me she'd seen me 'running around like a chicken with my head cut off' and apparently they 'need to hire more staff like me'. A nurse thanked me for all my hard work. I wanted nothing more than to go home and sleep after we feed the residents dinner on Sunday, but I still had an hour left. I did what I could, but the girl following me wasn't pleased...I find htis is often the case. The residents aren't to go to bed till after seven, unless they ask to be put to bed. I leave at seven. Often the person coming in after me is upset that all the residents aren't in bed...it's stupid and annoying. You can't expect me to give care and put 15 residents in bed in the course of an hour. Whatever, it's over and I'm not working again until Friday.

I did request this Sunday off for a family x-mas get together, and they scheduled me. They did this last week on the Saturday I requested off. I got it off because they had the paperwork, but now I have to let them know they did this again. My last job was good about giving you off the days you requested. Oh well.

On the plus side I just took my last Intro to Religions quiz and got all the answers right, so that's some good news.

:)

Had a slightly stasifying day. I went up to work early to let them know they scheduled me on a day I'd requested off and found out that for some reason they'd put me on the schedule for today. Thankfully got that taken care of, the woman who does the schedule said she'd asked me to work it and that I'd agreed. Which doesn't make any sense because if when I do that I write it down so I can put it in my schedule book and I don't see myself being so silly as to agree to work the day before I have two papers due. (Both papers are nearly complete and I'm not worried)

I of course got the 'just because you requested it doesn't mean you'll get it talk' and was all well duh. Of course it turns out that the day my Aunt Dot is having her party is the day they're having their party for the residents. Thankfully we reached a compromise and I'll be working a first shift. It'll make me late to my Aunt's party, but at least I'll be their to help them with thiers, won't lose too many hours on my paycheck and will make it to my family get together. All in all we both win.

Oh and did I mention I didn't have to go into work today? I'm thrilled. :)
