Fic: Come Clean (QaF UK, Stuart/Vince)

Title: Come Clean

Summary: AU for S2. Vince has a new job, as a policeman, and Stuart finds that irresistible.

A/N: This was written for the X-mas Fic Fest on the Stuart/Vince QaF yahoo group. The challenge was: What if Vince got tired of being a store manager, and tired of Stuart always making his disparaging remarks? What if he was looking for something more out of life? Something more rewarding? An actual career, where he could help people, and make a difference? What if he were to decide to become either a policeman, or a fireman? (After all, who doesn't love a man in uniform? And can you see Vince in uniform? Yum...) Anyway, he'd be filled with resolve that he was going to change his life. He'd be all forthright, and determined. And, naturally, Stuart would hate the idea. Mostly because he'd think that Vince was trying to be "The Man", part of straight society. Meanwhile, Vince would be settling in nicely. And being invited to join the Gay Policeman/Fireman' s Club, etc. Going out with the new gang. And Stuart starts getting anxious that Vince is moving on (an old favourite plot point, I know, but we've got to bring Stuart around somehow. ) Not to mention the fact that Stuart finds himself totally turned on by the sight of Vince in uniform. Rowr... Heh. Mostly, I think that it would be great to see Vince developing his own identity, apart from Stuart, while still being friends with him. Not being despairing, or anything, just trying to do something good for himself. And to see Stuart developing a real respect, grudging or otherwise, for a grown-up Vince. And Stuart realizing that he needs to work at keeping Vince around also. It could end up with them hitting the sheets, and Vince using his newly buffed up muscles to turn Stuart inside out. Or it could be about their friendship reaching a new level. Whatever. Challenge issued by Dee. What I ended up with was a oneshot inspired by the idea of Vince as a policeman. I hope you enjoy.

Attempting break...I should know better

I don't know what it is about this week, but I've been a tad on the miserable side. I'm not sure if it's the rough work weekeneds (since I only work Fri, Sat, and Sun) or if it's the stress of last week being finals week catching up to me, but this has been a horrible week. I felt miserable all day Monday, but I put that up to being dehydrated from working three days in a row. Usually Mondays and I don't get along so well, so I wrote it off. I still went to see moonlite_n_rose to watch Power Rangers and plot our story.

I also found out I got B's in both my classes.

Tuesday I had to plans. James wanted me to meet him for a movie at nine. Tammy I was suppose to meet at 7. So I canceled with James. Tammy I had made plans with before James started talking the new Batman movie for 2 dollars. I also hadn't seen Tammy or her daughter, who is my godchild, in going on two years. So Tammy won out in this case. Then I got an early morning call for my Aunt, she left a message as I had slept in. Turns out my cousin, who is having issues I haven't and probably won't go into, needed to use my computer to put her resume together. She also mentioned that she was going to get some of the family together to see the 7 pm showing, James had been planning to go to the 9 pm showing. I figured that when I'd called my other cousin to let her know the times that she passed along that I wasn't planning on going. I ended up bumming around the house waiting for a cousin that never showed up, but called right before I was going to get ready to go. We made arrangments for her to call the next day and come use my computer. As I was driving to meet Tammy my Aunt called to offer me a ride to the theater. When I explained what I was doing she sounded so disappointed I felt so bad. I still went and saw Tammy though. Raven, my godchild, she's gotten so big and is so full of energy. We had a good time. Tuesday was generally good. I also found out that an RPG I had enjoyed was kinda restarting and asked to be the char I'd played before. Which is cool as I've missed doing Jubilee. I promised to set up what I could the next day.

Wed came, I woke up miserable. However I'd promised my dad that I'd go to his house to await the arrival of some packages that needed to be signed. I got their at about 9. The packages showed up a bit after 5. By that time I had been having what I thought was a migrane for awhile. I don't get them often, but as soon as the packages arrived I went home and crawled into bed. My suspisions had been right and the packages were the lap tops my dad had gotten for my brother and me, but I was too miserable to happy figure out which one was mine and open it. Instead I took a nap. I woke up two hours later to the sound of my parents talking with my grandma (I live with my grandma) so I got up. My dad had brought my lap top and was trying to fit the harness they'd gotten for the kitten onto Twix. Boxes were opened, a harnass was determined to be a bit big. Visited my Aunt for a bit with my parents then grabbed some food and went to their house to watch Project Runway. Halfway through my headache started coming back. Needless to say when the show was over I went home and crawled back into bed. By that time my mom had determined that it was a tension headache and I had a knot at the base of my neck about the size of a fist...lovely.

So far today my back and my neck are sore, but no headache. Not sure what I'm going to do with myself today. I want to get some of the things I'd planned on doing yesterday done...I hadn't counted on being stuck at my parents house for 8 hrs. Another part of me wants to crawl back into bed and take it easy. I'm thinking the gym sounds good...with some running, some swimming and some sitting in the hot tub.

I seriously considered calling off work, but I really don't need the point and I really don't want to lose 12 hrs from my paycheck. STill have a backache, but thankfully it didn't progress into a headache today.

I took a nap today. Sat in a hot tub, oh that felt so good. I went and watched a movie. Also polished up the first chapter of a fic for my pr_au100 challenge. This piece has me nervous because it's not totally Dustin centered (It's not only told by Dustin, but Rocky and Skull as well), though he plays a large role. I also got everything done for my community college, book bought, payment plan set up, locker renewed...now to just do that for the state college. I'm saving driving into Cleveland for Monday, maybe I'll put it off till Tuesday. I also got a new cell phone. My plan for my old on expire in about a month so I now have a new one. I have a temp. number until my old plan expires and then the salesman said he could transfer my old number to my new phone. I bought a plan with half the minutes of my old plan (I use maybe a third of my available minutes now) and unlimited texting...so it's cool, I think. Also set up my lap top a bit. Still slightly intimidated by it. Also priced bags for the lap top since my dad said I would need one. After having looked over the bags and glaring at the expensiveness I've decided to pull my messanger bag from retirement...it's about the right size and has a shoulder strap, it should work without having to spend an extra 50 or up.

All in all a productive day. Made up for yesterday. So three days of work and then a bit of rest.
