Or why I do my job.

Today at work, while I was helping pass out breakfast one of our patients made a excited noise. This patient is usually very quiet and doesn't often react to a lot. When I turned around the aide sitting with her said that she's sat up straight when she'd seen me and made the noise, she thought the patient was trying to get my attention. I went over, smiled at her and said, "Hi! I haven't seen you in a few days!" This was true since I'd been working in other parts of the building. She said, "Yeah." She very rarely talks. I told her I was glad to see her and gave her a big hug, which she snuggled right into.
