So tired. We had a freak storm a few days ago, flooded the basement and the garage, but things are better there, the basement (thank God) wasn't totally ruinned, my Grandma and I are good. Even if I got woken out of a sound sleep because of the storm overhead.
Katrina at work yesterday asked me if I like boys too. I forgot that I outted myself a few days ago when I was talking about being president of the gsa at my college. Oh well, better to be out, I'm far more comfortable with that. Also got all the gay people I normally work with to join the gsa, even though two of them don't go to the school, which is allowed as all clubs are open to the community.
After work last night, I came home, cleaned up and went into school. First day of class. It's also Club Awareness Week, and the P.R.I.D.E. Club of course has a booth. Had to go in and help run it. All our pin went and so did all the keychains I made. A lot of people wanted keychains, and some of them wanted to know how much we were charging. So we'll give them out free this week, then I think any events from now on we'll charge something like fifty cents. I left for a few hours, got something to eat and supplies. I was suppose to go home and take a nap before class, instead I got my second wind. I went back, and redid the entire booth, because it was starting to fall apart and Scott brought in a gay pride flag for the booth and had pointed out a few things that didn't make sense. I got it fixed and am actually now satified with it. It looks nice, has plenty of rainbow colors and I think the other club members will like it. The clothing donation thing hasn't kicked off yet, we're collecting clothes for a group that takes care of people with MR and DD all through the week. Someone gave us four dollars, but no clothing yet, but promised from several people that some will be brought in. Which would be good, we're the only club doing a charity this week, everyone else is simply trying to get new members. I had to go approach the Campus Crusage for Christ, our group has an event we'd like to do in conjunction with them...you know to extend friendship and keep our clubs from having drama. I really don't want this to turn into the christen kids vs the gay kids and doing a event together could really set the groundwork to avoid that. However I have a sinking feeling they were just being nice to me so I would leave them alone and am not sure I'll hear from them. Will contact them at the end of the week if I don't.
Had some homophobia. Some guy was going to sign up and then when he realized that Gay-Straight Alliance meant we were for gay rights he had to let me know his opion which he boiled it down to that he reads the Bible and believes in 'Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve'. I've never had anyone say that to me, I've heard the phrase, but never had it directed at me. So I still got him to reapproach our booth and take a free pencil, he'd backed away like they were harmful or something. So he took a pencil. Then I told him that maybe one day we could change his mind, he laughed and said maybe and then walked away. It think I handled it well.
Overall I think it went well. We got three new faculty, two former presidents of their high school's GSA and in the end out grand total after ignoring the faux names I had put in the first line because Diane didn't think anyone would want to be first to sign up and not couting the people who simply wrote their name down with no contact info we got 38 new members. I'm completely thrilled with today.
I'm also exhausted. I went ot class, just got home and haven't been to bed since four or five yesterday...I think? I'm not really sure. Anyway goodnight, hope to catch all of you after this week of semi insanity is over.
