Pairing: Fox/Quinlan, Rex/Kit, Cody/Obi-Wan

Summary: Fox isn't sure he likes having a day off, much less spending it at Epcot watching Rex and Kit flirt. Star Wars at Disney AU.

Fox is grateful that the war is over. He's grateful that he’s now considered a Republic citizen: it's about time he got paid for his work. He still thinks watching General Windu chop off Palpatine's head was particularly satisfying. He finds helping to arrest corrupt senators, especially those following in Palpatine's undercover Sith Lord scheme of playing both sides of the war, very satisfying. He's even grateful that some of the planets that were kept safe from the Separatists are attempting to show support for the clones and Jedi. He’s just not sure he's going to feel grateful that this means he's been dragged to one of the many amusement parks the planet Disney is famous for. Still, the teriyaki chicken bun and lemon drops that Rex insisted they try taste really good.
He takes a sip of his drink as he eyes the sparkly faux ears that Ahsoka made Rex wear. It's amusing watching different padawans follow Ahsoka back over to Rex and then decide that Rex needs to know everything they're discovering about Disney as well, so they put him in their orbit even if they're no longer spending time with Ahsoka.
Of course that also means Rex is also attracting the attention of one particular Jedi master as well. Fox glances past Rex to take in the way Kit Fisto’s smile widens as Rex leans closer to Zonder, Barriss Offee’s padawan. As Rex and Zonder determine what food choices would be safe for the Selonian Fox watches as Kit deftly slides his free hand into Rex’s and tangles their fingers. Rex glances over. Kit’s tendrils light up in a small show of bioluminescence. Rex’s eyes track the light, but he doesn’t stop talking to Zonder or let go of Kit’s hand. Fox takes another bite of his bun, then snorts as Rex’s cheeks flush.
Either oblivious to Kit's flirting with Rex or ignoring it Zonder tells Rex, “Thank you!”
“Let me know how it is,” Rex encourages kindly.
Fox manages to not roll his eyes. It takes effort. As Zonder wanders away with a new plan for sampling food Rex attempts to elbows him. Fox shifts to standing so he can avoid the blow, then warns, “Don’t spill my drink or you're buying me another.”
Rex gives him a withering look. Fox has seen worse.
Fox tilts his head looking at Kit, then grins, knowing his grin will make Rex worry. “Are you enjoying watching Rex help padawans work through their problems?”
"Watching another teach is always a good learning experience," Kit says before leaning in a bit closer to Rex. Fox watches as their eyes meet. "Of course I've been finding everything you do rather enticing for a while."
Rex wets his lips. Kit’s gaze shifts down. Fox wonders if he should leave or tell them to get a room. He’s saved from making that decision when Cody and Obi-Wan walk up holding hands. Fox is relatively sure those two are attempting to make up for lost time now that there’s no chain of command issues between them. Cody frowns at Rex. "What are you wearing on your head?"
“Mickey ears,” Rex answers as he squeezes Kit’s hand and then slowly looks away to tell Cody. “Ahsoka thought they matched her coloring and decided I had to wear them.”
“They do remind me of her,” Obi-Wan says as he studies the ears. “Perhaps I should save her the trouble of getting me a pair and acquire them myself.”
“Why ruin her fun?” Fox interjects.
He glares and shoves the last bit of bun in his mouth when all their gazes suddenly land on him. He’s beginning to suspect that Rex and Kit aren’t just starting a relationship. This combined with Cody and Obi-Wan looking besotted with each other is going to make him feel like a fifth wheel.
Cody rolls his eyes. Rex snorts, but changes the subject as he asks Obi-Wan, “"Do you know Master Billaba's padawan?"
"Caleb? Yes. Last I saw he was running around with Cal," Obi-Wan says. "Why?"
"Probably to see if they can confuse people," Cody comments.
Fox isn't sure how either of the tiny padawans can be confused: they look nothing alike and Cal has psychometry while Caleb has questions about everything.
Obi-Wan looks around with growing concern, "Why? Where is Caleb?"
Rex waves his free hand, likely an attempt to indicate that Caleb’s done nothing wrong.
“He found out that Animal Kingdom has this Wilderness Explorer handbook and you can earn badges by going to educational booths,” Fox answers. “I think the badges are actually stickers you put in the handbook. He got excited at the prospect of people prepared to answer his questions and several other padawans went with him.”
“Likely to watch the show,” Cody comments.
Fox agrees. He’s seen how quickly that kid’s mind works. He’s grateful that Caleb mostly works with Grey and Styles, not him.
“That doesn’t seem like a bad thing,” Obi-Wan ventures cautiously. “Or an activity that would lead to trouble.”
Fox manages not to snort. It’s a near thing. Trouble doesn’t have to find Jedi, they find trouble.
“No, that’s not what I meant,” Rex attempts to correct. “He’s not causing trouble. Right now, it’s just the commanders, captains, and Jedi on Disney, but over the next few days, while they’re having different battalions take turns I was wondering if we can have him join us when it’s the 501st turn. Ahsoka will be with us and I know she likes spending time with her peers, also I’d like to introduce Caleb to Hardcase.”
Fox doesn’t have any idea who Hardcase is or why Rex thinks that would be a good idea.
Obi-Wan’s face lights up at the concept and then he considers it. “They’d either come up with some brilliant plans together or cause so much trouble.”
“Exactly,” Rex agrees.
Cody groans, then sighs. “They’d probably at least wear each other out.”
“Which is probably half the point,” Kit laughs. Rex smiles, then glances at Kit. Fox resists burying his face in his hands and groaning. Those two definitely need to get a room or a clue. He’s done nothing to deserve watching Rex attempt to flirt with Kit. He’s going to regret agreeing to come to Disney. This is all Quinlan’s fault and Quinlan isn’t even here. He could’ve just made his excuses and stayed on Coruscant and caught up on his paperwork. Why didn’t he do that? Why did he let Quinlan and the rest of the Coruscant Guard talk him into taking time off from work? Fox forces himself to take another sip of his lemon drop. At least the drink tastes good. It’s not caf, but it’ll do.
Rex suddenly sticks his free hand in the air and begins to wave someone over. Fox looks past him to take in Quinlan striding towards them. Finally, it took Quinlan long enough to find him. Fox’s eyebrows raise as he realizes that Quinlan is holding two drinks. Maybe one of them is for him? What are the chances that Quinlan brought him caf?
Quinlan’s grin widens as he approaches. He holds one of the drinks out for Fox.
“What is it?” Fox asks, skeptical. It’s the right color to be caf with something in it, except it’s over ice.
“Iced caf with chocolate liqueur,” Quinlan answers, smirking.
Wait, he can have alcohol with his caf? Why didn’t he know this before? Fox takes the cup. “This isn’t nearly big enough.”
“That’s why I got you two,” Quinlan tells him.
“What if I didn’t like it?” Fox challenges.
Quinlan snorts. “Just try it and then tell me you don’t like it.”
“I’ll try some if he doesn’t want it,” Obi-Wan offers. Fox eyes the rest of the group as they also chime in volunteering themselves to Fox’s drink. Great, now he has to like it even if he doesn’t.
Fox takes a cautious sip and then stills as the deliciousness hits his tongue. “Where are they serving this? We just need to spend all day there.”
“Told you,” Quinlan teases before leaning in for a kiss. As Fox deepens the kiss, ignoring Rex and Cody’s teasing about getting a room, he decides that he might come to enjoy amusement parks.
