New Rule:

Kim collapsed on the couch as soon as they entered their apartment. Jason carried their bags into their room and then joined her on the couch, lifting her legs and settling them on his lap.

“That is the last time I go to Angel Gove,” Kim groaned.

Jason carefully took her shoes off and began rubbing her feet, “It was nice to see our friends and hey the money we won meant not diving in the ocean again.”

“We were kidnapped,” Kim reminded, “And Bulk and Skull had their brain scrambled.”

“That was weird,” Jason agreed.

“Weird! It was awful! We almost drowned!”

“We didn’t,” Jason pointed out.

Kim closed her eyes and bit her lip as Jason hit a particularly good spot on her foot. She waited till he moved on to point out, “And then we were turned evil!”

Jason frowned, paused and closed his eyes.

Kim nudged him with her foot.

“We could’ve killed someone,” Jason said sadly.

Kim took her feet back and crawled into his lap, “We didn’t. We were saved.”

“It was horrible,” Jason said, “I could’ve killed him. I could’ve died and I didn’t care.”

“That wasn’t you,” Kim told him.

“How do you know?”

“Cause I said pink was out,” Kim reminded, “And I love my pink.”

A hint of a smile played at Jason’s lips and she kissed him for it.

“If it helps you were a rather hot sacrificial lamb,” she told him.

“Is it wrong that you evil and kicking butt was kinda hot?”

“Only a little,” she teased.

He cupped her face and looked into her eyes, “That was the worst idea ever, but…”

“Rocky sounded so despondent when he called. The Adam was stressed that Rocky was overdoing it and I had an old treasure map so we though why not.”

“We should’ve told our friends what we were doing,” Jason said.

“Not all of them were talking to us,” Kim pointed out.

Jason nodded, “I tried with someone else, but she wasn’t you.”

“I know,” Kim said, “I tried to move on, but…”

They shared an understanding, but bittersweet smile.

“I just wish we weren’t hurting a friend,” Jason said.

“He moved on,” Kim pointed out.

Jason nodded.

“And I love you,” Kim said.

“Love you more,” Jason teased, brushing the hair from her face.

Their lips met briefly and Kim settled herself more firmly into Jason’s lap before she murmured against his lips, “You’d better cause I don’t even want to think about the nightmares I’m about to wake you up with.”

“Not if I wake you up first,” Jason teased.

Kim smiled, “Of all the things to be joking about…”

“Hey, I’m just happy we weren’t roped into fighting a crazy space pirate.”

“I’m happy I don’t have to think about her outfit on a daily basis, it was hideous,” Kim agreed.

They shared another smile.

“Do you think Rocky will take his morpher back?” Jason asked.

Kim frowned as she thought about it, “I don’t know. He was watching Justin closely and with the way he described Justin before…it’s really up to Rocky and Justin.”

“Justin’s so young though,” Jason frowned, “Too young.”

“At least he knows how to fight,” Kim said.

“There is that,” Jason agreed then shook his head, “Still…”

“It’s not our call anymore,” Kim interrupted.

Jason smiled and shook his head.

“You know, a few months ago that would’ve bothered me,” Jason told her, “but now I have a life here with you and...”

“You don’t relish getting turned evil or having your brain scrambled on a daily basis?” Kim finished.

Jason laughed and then pulled her into a kiss.

“No more crazy treasure hunting,” Jason told her.

“Those days are done,” Kim agreed.

Jason smiled. Kim smiled back.

“No more Angel Grove,” Kim nodded.

“Not even to visit?” Jason asked.

“We were evil.”

“We were very evil,” Jason agreed.

“We almost killed our friends.”

“Yeah, with strangulation,” Jason continued to agree.

“It was bad.”

“Very bad.”

Kim laughed at the serious look on Jason’s face.

“We were saved,” Jason pointed out.

“I’m really not looking for a repeat,” Kim pointed out.

“And Tommy is finally talking to us,” Jason pointed out hesitantly, finally voicing the elephant in the room.

Kim nodded.

“It was the one thing bothering me,” Jason said, “that he wouldn’t talk to us.”

“I talked to him,” Kim said, “before we left. I think he finally understands.”

“Maybe doesn’t hate us anymore?”

“I don’t think he ever hated us,” Kim said, “I just think he was hurt and it was easier to not acknowledge that we’d gotten together.”

Jason nodded, “And we let him ignore us.”

“We did,” Kim agreed.

“So if we never go to Angel Grove again, will we fall back into that pattern?”

Kim laughed, “Okay, okay, we can visit, but we let our friends know ahead of time and we avoid the evil bad guys.”

“How were we supposed to know they’d come underwater for us?” Jason teased.

“New rule,” Kim told him, “No scuba diving while in Angel Grove.”

“That I can live with.”
