Sick. I've been sick for nearly two weeks now. I was starting to feel better and stupid me I decided not to go to the doctor. Well of course I woke up Thursday feeling awful. I attempted to call off work for Friday. They refused my call off because if I were to call off there would only be 7 other STNA's on the floor. I had even been generous and said let me have the morning off and I'll come work my 2-7 afternoon. I do twelve hours shifts. They ended up sending me home early so that I could go home and get some rest and so that I could go to the doctor.
Yeah for me I got two antibotics...one was a shot the other I have to take for the rest of the week.
I thought about asking for an excuse for today so I wouldn't have to go into work and I could get some rest. Silly me I decided I would be fine after some rest Friday and I didn't need all of Saturday off. I felt awful at work today. I was also only supposed to have a set until 2 and then just be an extra set of hands for a certain section. However someone called off and they gave me their set. Then the person who was supposed to follow me couldn't make it on time. They asked me to stay, knowing that I was sick. I said I would stay but only if they gave me tomorrow off. They said they couldn't do that. When I finished with the resident I had been with when they asked me I attempted to give them my call off stating that I really didn't even mean it as a if I stay you have to give me this thing...but that I really was trying to call off. The nurse told me that it was a 9 way and a mess and that I should just go home at my regular time and come in tomorrow. So I went back to work. I went back up to her forty-five minutes later and restated my wish to call off the next day as I had barely made it through today and didn't think I could do it agian tomorrow. I got told that if I called off that it would make tomorrow an 7 way and therefore they couldn't accept any call offs. Then the nurse told me to go home, take two tylenol, get some rest and I'll be fine. I like to know who in those 45 minustes from the first time I tried to 'call off' to the second time I tried to 'call off' actually managed to call off.
Needless to say I'm frustrated along with being sick now.
