Disclaimer: I own nothing to do with the X-men or Generation X, it's not my toy box and I'm merely playing. I don’t own anything to do with the title, which I borrowed from a Kenny Chesney song. I also don’t own anything to do with Iron Chef, Star Trek or the song ‘Mary’ by the Scissor Sisters.
A/N: Jono speaks by projecting so his words will be in '' to represent that. The title of this piece is ‘Never Wanted Nothing More’ but each chapter also has a title.

Consequences:

“So?” Ang ventured as he took a drag on his cigarette.

Jono shrugged.

“Come on,” Ang encouraged as he nudged Jono with his shoulder.

Jono’s dark eyes sweep over him then looked out across the lawn.

“Get in trouble over M?” Ang tried.

‘Sean yelled.’

“And?” Ang asked exasperated, tired of the melancholy funk Jono seemed stuck in. No, Jono was depressed, no questions about that. It was Jono’s insistence on silence and the almost numbness that he projected when he talked telepathically that had Ang worried, bother and generally annoyed.

‘Maybe I should learn sign language?’ Jono ventured in an attempt to change the subject.

“What for?”

‘Technically I’m mute,’ Jono pointed out.

“You’re a telepath.”

‘Can’t be that in the world outside.’

“Wait, they kicking you out?” Ang asked alarmed. His cigarette was crushed under his sneaker as he turned to go and give their headmasters a piece of his mind.

‘No, not yet,’ Jono stopped him, grabbed Ang’s hand and tugged.

Ang flopped back down on the step as he repeated, “Not yet?”

Jono shrugged, ‘They’ll find a reason.’

“Are they looking for one or is this one of your ‘I hate myself’ moods?”

Jono glared.

“Hey, since we’re officially boyfriends now I get to ask.”

Jono’s eyes crinkled slightly, automatically, before they went back to looking sad, ‘Not actually, seems inevitable.’

Ang crossed his arms scowling, “What did Sean and Emma say?”
‘They yelled at Monet too.’

Ang gave Jono a steady expectant glare.

‘Sean thinks they should get Beast here again to look at me.’

Ang grimaced, “Ugh, he’ll probably come with more vitamins that we just have to take. Or realize I’m lying and those meds he gave to me to help with my headaches don’t do a thing.”

Jono tilted his head, worry coloring his eyes.

“Hey, you don’t have to deal with the pills.”

‘I have to deal with the tests.’

“And the subbed lesson plans,” Ang grimaced again.

‘Sean’s worried I’m still too depressed.’

Ang rolled his eyes, Jono being depressed was practically a regular state of being. Besides, how were you supposed to medicate a person if they couldn’t swallow and had little to no blood flow? There really wasn’t much of a way to help Jono.

‘Emma’s not sure the two of us are a good thing.’

Ang’s eyes narrowed and he scowled as Jono latched onto him, holding him steady. He was ready to stomp right back into the house and tell Emma about minding her own business. Ang met Jono’s serious gaze.

‘Told her were to stick it,’ Jono reassured.

Ang laughed, “So you’re lucky you’re not kicked out?”

Jono’s eyes crinkled in response to Ang’s laughter, ‘Sean told her I was right, that it is none of their business.’

Ang smirked. Jono reached out and traced his lips. Ang kissed his fingers.

“So?” Ang ventured.

‘Detention for a week,’ Jono shrugged, ‘even though I don’t technically attend classes.’

“You still have all that X-men history to catch up on,” Ang teased.

“Monet got it for half a week, for the things she said, trouble she caused.”

“Good.”
