Near the start of my first semester of nursing school my pharmacy switched me to the generic form of my birth control. I became very ill that semester as in I was at times in so much pain my body would go into shock. I assumed it was the birth control and switched back to my regular, which was difficult because my insurance no longer covered it since a generic was avaliable and seventy some a month for thirty pills is a lot of money.

I also have a family history of endormetrosis. I went to my ob/gyn to see if there was anything I could get done to get a dianosis and treatment. Never say to a doctor that your symptoms match up to your relative that has endo because they will apparently read you the riot act about how it isn't genetic. I was also concerned about cost and mentions this in hopes that we could set up a payment plan. I was told to get better insurance when I have what I'm told is pretty good insurance. Basically I had been seeing my ob/gyn's PA and well my first time meeting my ob/gyn was this. I left her office in tears and never went back.

I went to my aunt's ob/gyn instead. He is amazing. He talks to you, he puts you at ease. He is calming and he listens to what you have to say. I was diagnosised with interstitial cystitis. He's also pretty much diagnosis my whole family with it and that makes me question the diagnosis, but well the meds helped me feel beter and I've figured out that coffee is one of my main tiggers...and my first semster of nursing school usually involved being in class all day, going to get my patient info then being up till 4 am getting all my prep work done...sleeping till 5 am and starting my day all over. If you didn't have the prep work just so you were written up and so many write ups would get you kicked out. Nursing school is an exercise in thinking while sleep deprived sometimes.

So yeah, birth control that costs 70 something a month not so good. I complained to my doctor and he got me a card that made it 25 dollars a month. Thing is this card is from the company to be given to the uninsured...so it stopped working last month. My birth control now costs 80 dollars, even my pharmaist was shocked and suggested I call the company about getting my cost reduced. I called my ob/gyn and am going to try that generic again. Last time I had it was about twenty bucks. We'll see what happens and I'll keep avoiding coffee like it's awful stuff.
