Reconcile:
Five years. Sam’s brain stay stuck on the fact that it’s been five years. He’s lost five years. What if he’s come back and people he loves are dead? He’s not sure where to start.
And then Rhodey’s standing in front of him. It’d be a delusion to think Rhodey would still want him after all this time, wouldn’t it? Except Rhodey’s eyes are wide and his fingers flex. Hugging is awkward with Rhodey’s suit and his wings, but they manage.
“You were just gone,” Rhodey whispers. “I wasn’t sure this would work.”
“I’m here,” Sam manages, before kissing him.
