I Imagine This is How It Began:

Bodhi attempts to stifle a yawn with one hand, while trying to brush his hair with the other. He’s still not sure how they’re all alive. Jyn slides onto the bed behind him and touches his hand. “Let me.”

Bodhi hands her the brush. Cassian stands near the end of the bed, studying them while shielding them from the rest of the medbay. Jyn’s fingers glide over his hair, gently making sure it’s all in front of her, before she starts brushing. Cassian crosses his arms and widens his stance. It somehow makes him look larger than he is.

Bodhi blinks slowly. He feels safe, for the first time in a long time, possibly for the first time in memory. He shouldn’t. They’re on a med frigate run by the Rebellion after having stolen Imperial plans for the Death Star. They’re definitely not safe, but with Jyn behind him and Cassian in front of him Bodhi feels safe.

“Him too,” Jyn says and Bodhi can feel their eyes meet over his head. Cassian gives a small nod, then looks at Bodhi. Before he can worry, can panic, about what they’re deciding regarding him the brush slides through his hair, lulling.

He wants to keep this feeling, so he’ll be able to sleep. They’ll leave and the feeling their presence is providing him with will leave with them. Cassian holds out a hand. “I’ve got a room. Jyn and I were going to get some sleep. Do you want to come?”

Bodhi swallows down the protest that he doesn’t deserve this offer. He knows he doesn’t, but he wants. Jyn’s deft fingers work his hair into a braid, then her lips graze his neck. “We wouldn’t offer if we didn’t want you there.”

What can he do but take Cassian’s hand?
