I'm currently holding off on starting the third book of this arc because I haven't DNFed any of the Jedi Apprentice books yet, but I'm frustrated. I've read The Ties That Bind and The Death of Hope by Jude Watson. The third book in this arc is called The Call to Vengeance. The last line of The Death of Hope is Qui-Gon telling Obi-Wan that there is only revenge. And *sigh*
Book 14 - Qui-Gon gets a vision of Tahl dying and rushes back to the temple on Coruscant to reunite with her. She goes on a mission and falls out of contact. He gets told not to go, not to follow, that she's likely fine and he goes anyway. Eventually the two reunite and admit that they are in love with one another. Tahl gets kidnapped shortly after this confession.
Book 15 - The attempt to rescue Tahl while having flashbacks of their life together. They rescue Tahl and then she dies.
I'm sure book 16 is Qui-Gon going off on a vengeance streak and struggling with his man pain and I get that these books were written in 2001 and are essentially for pre-teens, but I'm just so tired of 'here is this amazing character...she and this hero are in love...and now she's dead...vengeance!' I'm just *sigh* not what I want in this series especially since I'm relatively sure something similar is going to happen to Siri.
If the third book doesn't even acknowledge that Bant lost her mentor then I'm going to be so frustrated with it.
I'll read it eventually. It's a library book and will have to go back. I'm just letting myself focus on other books at the moment, even though I have the first Jedi Quest book out of the library and I'm really interested in meeting those characters, but I'm trying to wait until I finish the Jedi Apprentice series.
