Title: Reason
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Wes Janson, Hobbie
Disclaimer: I own nothing to do with Star Wars. It's not my toy box and I'm merely playing.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: A New Hope. Missing Scene. Wes tries to be the voice of reason. They can't fly while they have the flu.
A/N: For MapleOwl18, because the flu sucks.
Reason:
"Do not make me be the voice of reason, lay back down," Wes manages before he glares at Hobbie. He wants to cough, but a coughing fit would mess up his disapproving persona. "You're stressing out the nurses."
The words are barely out of his mouth before he lapses into coughing.
"I am not," Hobbie protests. He's still sitting up and pushing at his blankets.
Wes waves off the nurse and tries to give him a reassuring look before turning back to Hobbie. "There are already more pilots than ships. They're not going to give you a ship."
"They're going up against a planet killer," Hobbie manages.
"You're wheezing and still hooked up to fluids. I don't think there's a way to transfer that to your X-wing," Wes points out.
Hobbie glares, petulant. The nurse snorts and walks away. Wes watches him go, waits another moment, and then carefully sits up to let his feet rest against the floor. He stands slowly.
"I'll still get there first," Hobbie protests.
"Be quiet," Wes signs before he carefully makes his way over to Hobbie's bed and settles onto it next to him. He wraps an arm around Hobbie. "Don't make me sit on you."
"But Wedge will be up there," Hobbie tries. "I'm supposed to watch out for him."
"Lay down Hobbie," Wes insists.
Hobbie sighs as he lays back. It takes them a moment to shift into a comfortable cuddle.
"Antilles will be fine," Wes reassures.
"You can't promise me that," Hobbie grumbles.
"Promise," Wes says with trepidation. "He'll have Biggs with him."
After a moment Hobbie adds, "And Porkins."
"And Porkins," Wes agrees.
"You shouldn't promise me anything," Hobbie manages. He's starting to sound tired.
"We are going to get over this stupid flu and then we're going to fly circles around Antilles," Wes insists.
"Promise?"
"Promise."
