My grandma was insisting I have a birthday party this year since I have the weekend which includes my birthday off. She arranged it with my parents, bought the cake...mmm ice cream cake...and then it was decided that my cousin's Missy's son, Logan, who's turning one must come to visit this weekend and therefore his birthday will be celebrated on Saturday. Mine is Sunday. My mother decided that this was too many parties which to her equaled to many calories (She just quit the program she was in to go on a crash diet) and therefore my party must be canceled and we should take my cake down to Logan's party in the hopes that relatives will eat it all up. My grandma is not pleased. I haven't decided how I feel about it yet besides happy that I get to see my cousin and her son.
My mother is also upset that I haven't graduated from college yet. It's completely confusing to me. My grandma, who helps me pay for college wants me to be a nurse. My mother, who helps my brother pay for college (but not me) wants me to become a teacher. If she hears of me going with my grandma's plan she decides to sit me down and convince me to go another route. It's all together confusing and I'd rather just be able to go to class without the pressure of two people wanting me to choose between them and their dreams for my future.
I'm going to be 23 on Mother's Day.
